Paper Doily Die Tutorial

Here are tips demo-ed by Shari B. to get a faster, cleaner cut with your Paper Doily Die. You will need clear wide packing tape.

Cover the entire cutting surface of the die with wide packing tape and leave it on permanently. Run your Die sandwich through your Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. NO pieces of cardstock stick in the die - saving you time picking out all the little "left behinds." Use this technique with any die that gives you "left behinds," such as small alphabets.

Now roll the die cut cardstock over a pencil to loosen and pop out the little cut outs. Turn perpendicular and do it again.

If you have cut outs that still need removing, pop them out with a stylus or piercing tool. If your die does not cut all areas thoroughly, add a "SHIM" before cutting. What is a shim? It's anything that adds thickness to your cutting sandwich. I use one sheet of cardstock or one sheet of the lightweight cardboard in the back of regular Designer Series Paper Packs (or a cereal box.) I went one step further....instead of using package tape, I used clear contact paper. By doing this I did not have to piece the packing tape together, I was able to cut the contact paper the size of the die. I've started doing this with all of my sizzlits. Also, thanks for the tip with the pencil.
